A representation of new additional features and improvements that have been implemented in Codex.

New Features

1. Codex Playground

Codex Playground is an environment built-in Codex where third-party developers can extend Codex functionality by adding new functionalities. This release includes the possibility to create, preview, edit and render widgets in Codex layouts. Codex playground can be found in the Codex Modules menu.

2. Integrations Module

Codex provides built-in integrations with other stacks within the GjirafaTech ecosystem, including but not limited to AI Hub, Tonos, Bisko, Porta and VP Player. These integrations can be set up and viewed in the Integrations Module in the main Codex menu. Each of these integrations are submenus of the Integrations menu, with their corresponding configurations. In this release, it is possible to set up Codex integrations for the following platforms:

  • AI Hub

  • Bisko

  • Porta

  • VP Player

3. Models in Codex

In this release, Codex introduces Models, a new feature which allows users to create custom data models for different kinds of content. Models can be created in the Builder module of Codex that will allow users to create their own custom entities such as Sections or Articles in Codex using the fields provided. Models can be build via a WYSIWYG editor which allows a lot of flexibility to organize and preview custom built models. In this release, users can create Models using three basic fields which include Media field, Rich Text field and Number field.

4. Layout Experiments

The Experiments tool in Codex now allows conducting Layout experiments to test multiple variants and see which combination provides best results in terms of key metrics or KPIs. Besides Article Promo Experiments Codex now offers Layout Experiments with which users will be able to test & improve the performance of their sites based on the results they get from these experiments by choosing on the variants with the highest performance as their final draft for a layout.

5. Text configurations in Discussion

By default, all text fields that can be seen on Discussion are displayed in English, for example report, delete, comment and others. Now as a user you can change these texts using text configurations for the corresponding fields. These configurations can be found in the Translations tab in the side panel (see photo below). For example, user can specify how the comment button text should display in front, whether it be comment, komentář, commenter, commento or other.

7. AI Hub Integration & Recommended Articles List in Codex

Users can now easily integrate AI Hub to their sites in Codex. Currently, Codex can utilize the Recommendation System engine provided by AI Hub which can be set and configured using the Recommended Article List widget. This widget can be used anywhere in the layouts and once configured, will display recommended articles to Codex sites.

Improvements

1. Upload Videos in Codex using the VP

Up until now you could only upload videos in VP and then use them in Codex. Now you can directly upload videos to VP from Codex's Video submenu in Assets. Videos that are uploaded in VP can then can be used anywhere within Codex with the VP Player widget.

2. Pixelate Images using the Photo Editor

As part of the Photo Editor tool, Codex has also added the possibility to Pixelate images in Codex Assets module. Codex now provides users with more functionality to the Photo Editor tool by allowing users to pixelate images. Look forward to more functionalities that will be added in our Photo Editor later on!

Bug Fixes

  1. Delete Experiments - Could not delete an experiment that has been canceled before.

  2. List of Themes - Themes were harder to find since they were not sorted based on create date and time.

  3. Profile Menu - Submenu Language of Profile menu didn't have any functionality.

  4. URLs and Slugs - Couldn't add special characters when configuring URLs and/or slugs.

  5. Ad Placements - Couldn't resize width and height of images added in Ad Placement using the configurations panel.
